“Dreamgirls” is a Broadway musical which tells the story of a group of 3 girls in 1960s who called themselves “The Dream”; who wanted became music superstar. Their travel from Chicago to Vegas in order to fulfilled their dream.
The musical follows the story of Effie White (played by Dina and Elvira ) with her girlfriend Deena (Cheryl Samat) and Lorrell (Azura Zainal). “Dreamgirls” features a few unforgettable hits, including “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going”, “One Night Only” and “Listen”. This show was directed by Joanna Bessey, Choreograph by Michael Xavier Voo (nice choreograph… good job! Fantastic, Fascinating) and the music is directed by Casey Goh. This broadways presented an incredible talent of Malaysia. I did not realized that MALAYSIA have a wonderful and talented young artist. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Me and my friend enjoyed it VERY MUCH.
“Dreamgirls” brought to Malaysia live at Istana Budaya from 14 to 24 July 2011 by Broadway Academy who has been given the full rights to stage “Dreamgirls” in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. This production is collaboration with KPKK, JKKN and Istana Budaya.
