Ramadhan is near the conner. Most of muslim will arrange a "kenduri" for celebrate the coming Ramadhan.. In My home town...Kg. Kuala Perdik(Javanese village).. the 'nasi ambeng' or 'nasi bacaan' is a must. Nasi Ambeng is a combination of rice, local vege kerabu, sambal goreng and fried anchovy( tamban), fried peanuts and fried chicken.
This type of kerabu is called bumboo kelapa ( coconut flakes). Its added with hot chili that make the taste better.
We need to add all local vege ( tapioca young leave (pucuk ubi), a type of fern (pucuk paku)) long bean and green bean sprouts. Added together with the bumboo.
Sambal goreng is consist of fried potato, soo hoon, dried soy bean, cabbage,prawn, all this ingredient will mixed together with blended onion, ginger, anchovy, dried prawn. then fried it and added soy sauce and oyster sauce. cooked until it a bit dry.
The rice, vege, sambal goreng and fried chicken are put together on the banana leave. We can eat together. this one big plate is for 6 people.
This ceremony can bring a good memories. It represent teamwork spirit in the villages. This tradition should be continue forever..
